The ESIC, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Act, 1948 conceived of an integrated need based social insurance scheme that would protect the interest of workers in contingences like: maternity, sickness, temporary or permanent physical disablement, death due to employment injury leading in loss of wages or making capacity. ESIC 1948 Act to offer for certain benefits to employees in case of sickness, maternity and employment injury and to create provision for certain other matters in relation thereto. ESIC Scheme of India is a multidimensional social system oriented to offer socio-economic protection to worker population and their dependants covered under the scheme. Therefore, to insure smooth and directly run of benefits, an attempt has been created in the following paragraphs about the process to be pursued by the ESI beneficiaries for claiming the benefits as and when the need develops.
